Boost your energy levels: 7 foolproof formulae to make these happen

“What you think, you become.” These wise words were spoken by Goutama Buddha. And nothing is truer than this. Our mind controls the majority of actions that our body takes. Many of these formulate our daily habits. Over the years, these become so ingrained in our lives that it becomes difficult to get rid of these. Slowly these start controlling our life, resulting in a stressed, fatigued body, constantly looking for sources to boost your energy levels.
Take a deep breath and look at your daily activities. Do you feel stressed at the end of the day, and reach for that cup of coffee to boost your energy level? Look at the areas where you have spent a considerable amount of time. To help you do this, let me break it up into smaller lists:
1. The time you spent on social media: are you the one who picks up the phone the moment you leave the bed?
2. Do you let go of a morning walk to sit and indulge in idle gossip?
3. Do you get worked up about other people’s conduct and spend time thinking about it throughout the day?
4. Take a look at your social life. Are you in touch with your friends, neighbours, colleagues (apart from the official work)?

Tips to Boost your energy levels, which are practical and can be practiced
If yes is your answer to most of the questions above, then my friend, you are adding more stress to your already busy, stressed, and modern life. It is a fact that we all are living in a fast-paced daily life, and going ahead of others seems to be the only “mantra” of a successful life. And it is about time you take a serious look at it and rethink the ways to monitor it.
Now you may say, it is easier said than done. I agree. But nothing comes up without hard work, perseverance, and a will to succeed. All you need to do is to tweak your daily routine to accommodate the changes, and feel more energized. Here I Have included a simple daily activity chart to help you monitor your activities. You can change the inputs as per your requirement.

A Daily  chart to Simplify your Activity

Here are my tips:
1) Take a look at your daily activities. Find out what are the activities that waste your time, without adding any values. Cut down or better still, eliminate these. Take up a hobby. I am sure; there must be many things you did as a child which brought you immense pleasure.
For example,
a) read a book.
b) Spend some time in your garden, tend to the plants.
c) Take a brisk morning walk, meet new friends
d) Cook a recipe you had always wanted but never did due to “lack of time”
e) Listen to good music (sing along) believe me, it is a great stress buster.
2) Join a local Group. There are a plenty of local groups catering to your tastes.
a) Yoga Class
b) The Laughing Club
c) The book readers Club
d) The Plant lovers Club
e) The Pet Lovers Club
3) Take plenty of exercises: no amount of healthy diet, vitamin capsules, or micronutrients will be of help if you do not exercise. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes. Any form of exercise is a great booster for your energy levels. Pick up an exercise routine that you enjoy doing, be it outdoor or indoors. If you do not like going to the gym, pick up your cycle and ride and circle your neighbourhood. Pick up a skipping rope and skip on your terrace. However, do not skip for 30 minutes on the first go. Start slowly, and then gradually increase. Join a Yoga class, Yoga does boost your energy levels like nothing else. It calms your mind and increases flexibility.

You can follow Keepfit for an excellent collection of exercise videos.

4) Change your diet: “you are what you eat.” There is no such excuse as “I only drink water and still I put on weight.” Cut down on sugar. Stay away from deep-fried food. Stay away from junk food and delicacies served by the street vendors. Cut down on cheese. Replace these with healthier options. Sprouts, cereals, and chapattis will serve as excellent snacks when prepared right. A complete Indian food chart to lose weight is shared here. idealfoodchart
5) Reduce alcohol: Cut down on your alcohol and caffeine consumption. Drinking late into night brings sleeplessness which saps your energy the next day. Alcohol reduces your blood sugar level depriving you of energy. Caffeine is a quick fix solution for fatigue. It does nothing to boost your energy levels.
6) Sleep: Take plenty of rest. Rest is required to rejuvenate you. It makes you feel fresh, make you feel energized, and helps in calming tiredness and fatigue. Studies show, most of us require at least 8 hrs of sleep. Some can do with less than that, but sleep is what is essential. Many tend to work late into the night, cutting down on their sleep. This tendency adversely affects both mind and body, and they feel tired and restless the very next day.

Exercise to boost your energy levels
7) Consult your Physician: after making changes to your lifestyle, if you still feel fatigued, consult your physician. I will not name any pills here as it is beyond the realms of this post. Your physician is qualified to prescribe any vitamins to boost your energy levels.

It is never too late for a positive change. Do not get disappointed if you do not see any positive outcome immediately. It is not designed that way. You need to work at it; cultivate it as a positive habit. Everything takes time and this one will as well. Keep working at it and you will be rewarded with good results.

Great tips. My favourite is number 1 which is what I still struggle with: spending too much time on social media watching cat videos instead on focusing my efforts on marketing and community building. I also learned the value of using a planner as my life got busier. 🙂

Great post here! Very informative – I’m going to try and track the things I’m already doing, so I can see where I’m waiting some time. Thank you for this boost of time management!

Thanks Kara. I think time management is the key and we all struggle to achieve this.
